This year HSE marks the 25th anniversary of its founding. That may seem a long time, but for most universities, especially leading ones, it’s barely worth mentioning. We are too young for anniversaries celebrated with oil paintings and lofty ceremonies in marble halls. We are too young to tug our beard or run a hand through our grey hair and muse about what science was in our day. So we will mark this occasion in our own way. We will think about how we can improve, there will be presents – but we will be handing them out rather than accepting them. We will look at ourselves with a sense of humor, and set out even more ambitious projects. There will be no master of ceremonies and no tuxedos. HSE will celebrate this in its own distinctive style, turning traditional approaches upside down. So, what does this ‘anti-anniversary’ year have in store for us, and how can we start celebrating it now?

Golden HSE Winners 2017

This year’s Golden HSE awards ceremony took place on December 1 and saw a record number of nominees with 355 contenders for 10 different nomination categories. The winners of each category were determined in two stages. In addition, this year’s event was the second time the Golden Citation award was given out. This is an ‘award within an award’ that is given to the most-cited researcher.
